Ikorodu youths urge political office holders to prioritise youth’s interest

The Ikorodu Division Youth Movement (IDYM), Lagos State, on Sunday urged political office holder to prioritise the interest of youths their constituents.

The president and coordinator of IDYM, Mr Oluwaseun Elesho, made the appeal at an interactive and debate session at the Ikorodu town hall.

LagosTimes reports that Mrs Oyebanjo Adeola, (ADC) for Constituency 2, Balogun Rotimi (ANN), Prince Adegoke Adeola (AD), Adeyemi Odofin (ADC) Ikorodu Constituency 1, Barr. Paul Okoro (ANN) Constituency 2, Ayobami Bork (AD) and Mr Sanai Agunbiade (APC) Constituency 1.

Elesho said that youths make up the highest number among the electorate and are the most vulnerable in terms of political violence in Nigeria.

He said the essence of organising the debate is to ensure that people of the constituency has the opportunity to ask questions from various candidates on their plan if they are elected.

Elesho added that the electorate will have direct discussions and engagement with them on how tackle and improve the life of people in the constituents.

The president said the debate and interactive session with political office holders was to help in getting a better attitude of political leaders and office holders to the youth.

Elesho warns youths not to engage themselves in political violence as the forthcoming general election draw closer.

Answering questions from the Youths on their plans for the Constituency if voted as the lawmaker, the lawmaker said that they would run all inclusive legislation.

Mrs Oyebanjo Adeola (ADC) candidate said that the essence to join the race was to better the life of people by partnering with civil society with expected feedback to bring dividend of democracy to the grassroots.

Mr Balogun Rotimi, ANN party candidate said he would ensure more people were educated through scholarship to tackle unemployment in the Constituency.

Mr Adeyemi Odofin (ADC) candidate said he would create skill and acquisitions to empower and transform people and artisans would be self-employed.

Mr Ayobami Bork, candidate of the AD said that if votes in as the lawmaker in the forthcoming election he would empower lots of youth with empowerment programs that would benefit them.

Mr Sanai Agunbiade, candidate of the APC said that he would run an all-inclusive legislation and take the Constituency to an advance level.

Agunbiade commended the organisers of the programme and urged other people to follow suit adding that Youths should be able to know and screen candidates of their choice.
